M&C’s specific flameproof manufacturing range:

1. Shuttle car AC motors:
For “B” and “D” range shuttle cars

  • Pump motors:
    20 kW – Unique design, upgraded fan-less design, improved reliability and hundreds installed in industry.
  • Conveyor motors:
    Various different configurations – Single speed: 4 pole, 6 pole, 8 pole, dual speed, single voltage, dual voltage.

2. Continuous miner (CM) AC motors:

  • Cutter motors:
    Replacements for both Joy and Voest products, direct interchangeability and unique designs. Special single cage designs with high starting torque configuration while improving reliability.
    Upgraded designs:
    140 kW
    200 kW
    270 kW
  • Pumps:
    Hydraulic power pack pump motors, replacements for both Joy and Voest products and direct interchangeability. 45 kW as well as upgraded 60 kW rating.
  • Gathering arm motors:
    Replacements for both Joy and Voest products, direct interchangeability and various different ratings.
  • Conveyor motors:
    Replacements for both Joy and Voest products, direct interchangeability and various different ratings.

3. Shuttle car DC motors:

  • M&C has with co-operation from AngloCoal, designed and manufactured a new upgraded 30 kW DC traction motor for use on underground B-Cars (shuttle cars). The need for the upgraded motor was identified through our continuous improvement programme. This replaces the traditional 22 kW motors which were prone to premature failure for various reasons.
